Maxie

Maxie is just the cutest little puppy in the whole world – and when we saw him, we just knew that he had to become a member of our family! He came into our lives after spending some time in foster care, but he’s finally found a forever home where he can live out his days happily ever after!

His mom is a black lab/husky mix and his dad is a golden retriever. We think they’re both pretty cute too!

Unfortunately, due to a genetic condition -Maxie’s vision started to go downhill when he was just 6 months old – and we noticed that h was becoming more clumsy around the house and when outside. In a routine visit to the vet, we were told that he has progressive retinal atrophy, and will eventually lose all of his vision.

To help us all cope with this – we have made changes around the house to help with Maxie’s accessibility. For example, our other dog, Andy, and our cat Tyb both wear bells on their collars, so that Maxie can tell where his companions are at all times.

We have loved having Maxie as part of our family for almost 2 years now. He has been such an amazing addition to our home; he’s always happy and full of energy, and he loves being with us all day long. He’s also very smart, so he’s learning lots of new tricks every single day – as well as adapting to his loss of vision.

We are looking forward to many more fun times together with Maxie!
